The Problem
African healthcare professionals in Ireland often rely on fragmented channels such as WhatsApp groups, shared folders, and scattered documents to access career guidance, educational resources, and community support. This made it difficult for members to discover available benefits, find relevant information, or connect with others in a safe and meaningful way.

What We Did
We conducted UX research and product design, working closely with ANNI members and stakeholders to transform user insights into an accessible, community-driven digital platform.
UX Research
Every design decision started with understanding the lived experiences of African nurses and midwives in Ireland. We conducted user interviews, surveys, and thematic analysis to understand the lived experiences of African nurses and midwives in Ireland. We uncovered the key barriers preventing members from fully engaging with the organization, from unclear membership benefits and difficult resource discovery to concerns around privacy and online participation.
These insights shaped the platform's information architecture and user journeys ensuring that all features were intuitive, accessible, and easy to explore.

UX Design
As trust emerged as one of the platform's most important design principles, I focused on creating an experience that encouraged users to participate with confidence. I drove the design from Lo-fi to Hi-fi using Figma, add features like anonymous posting, complaint and feedback channels, and approval-based access to workshops. It helped create a respectful environment where members felt comfortable seeking support, sharing experiences, and building meaningful connections.

The Solution
ANNI transforms scattered resources into a unified, trusted digital platform for ANNI members. Clear navigation, improved resource discovery, and transparent membership benefits make it easier for users to access the support they need. Trust-centered community features encourage open participation while protecting users' privacy and wellbeing. The result is an inclusive platform that strengthens engagement, empowers professional growth, and enables African healthcare professionals to thrive together in Ireland.

Outcome
60% of users showed a higher intent to pay for the membership.
Task completion time for sharing resources and booking sessions reduced by 40%.
85% of users felt that approval-based access to sessions made the environment feel more private and respectful.
